Suffragan Bishop Maxie Dobson, CPA

Suffragan Bishop Maxie D. Dobson was born, to the late Maxie Dobson and Edith Dobson Best in Duplin County (Kenansville), North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from North Carolina Central University in 1976. After graduating, Dr. Dobson was employed by Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana. During his employment from 1976-1991, he held various accounting management positions in addition becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 1983. Dr. Dobson founded JIL Bookkeeping, Consulting & Tax Services in 1989; specializing in church administration. He received a Master’s Degree in Theology from Calvary Midwest Bible College and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity in May 2003.
Among the many highlights in Dr. Dobson’s life, the most important day of his life was Easter Sunday 1978, when God saved him under the ministry of Bishop Charles Sims and Dr. Jane Sims at Calvary Community Church in Columbus, Indiana. At Calvary, Dr. Dobson served as a janitor, van driver, first family armor bearer, Sunday School teacher/superintendent, Board of Trustees member, deacon, church business manager, and assistant pastor.
After being called to the ministry, Dr. Dobson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was ordained as an elder by The Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc., in August 1989. After being ordained, Dr. Dobson felt God calling him to start his pastoral ministry. He and his family relocated from Columbus, Indiana to Durham, North Carolina in 1993 and became members of Greater Emmanuel Temple of Grace (formerly Greater Emmanuel Pentecostal Temple) under the leadership of Bishop Marion E. Wright, Sr., where he served faithfully as Ministry Head for Associate Ministers. In 1997, he became the chairman of the Auditing Committee for the Carolina State Council, serving through 2005.
In February 1999, he was called by God to pastor The Tabernacle of Miracles Church (formerly Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church) in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
He was consecrated as a Suffragan Bishop of the North Carolina State Council July 2006. He served as the Assistant Treasurer of the NCSC from March 2005 until November 2011, when he was appointed to his current position of Chairman of the North Carolina State Council.
Dr. Dobson is married to one of the most beautiful women on earth, First Lady Arletha Dobson, who has worked diligently beside him over the years. God has blessed this union with two children, Priscilla and Maxie III (Brittany) and one grandchild, Samone Michelle.
On the third Sunday of August 2002, God sent The Tabernacle a powerful message through Dr. Dobson. If you ask Dr. Dobson or any member of the congregation what the word is for the church today, they will simply tell you to “Look for Miracles and Expect the Impossible!!!”
